Duce is a small, quiet place, situated in central Dalmatia, 20 km south of Split, and about 30 km south of Makarska. It is a series of small settlements in Poljica, the area between the foot of the Mosor mountainous chain and the sea. It belonged in the past to the famous Poljice Republic, ruled by the Grand Duke according to the decrees of the Poljice Statute. Such a heritage has left an indelible imprint on that place which is proud of its preserved examples of popular rural architecture.

Trips in surroundings of Dugi Rat are organized to the old villages in the foot of Mt Mošnjica such as: Staro Duce, Zeljovici, Krug and Staro Jesenice, where there are about 300 nice old preserved stone houses. All of these villages follow the same pattern; they all have streets, roads, small squares, centres that are mostly in the vicinity of the church or school, and fileds. Surrounded by luxuriant vegetation, far from the city noise or any industry whatsoever, enjoying non-polluted air, mild climate and above all a magnificent view of the sea and islands (Brac, Hvar, Solta), they are something that every tourist will be impressed by at first sight. It is an ideal place to plan a recreational weekend, away from city noise. Regardless of your sporting preferences, whether it be diving, wind-surfing, rafting or kayaking (on still-water or rapids), hiking, rock-climbing, hang- or paragliding, cycling or boating, this former refuge of pirates and buccaneers offers all of this on a background of exquisite natural beauty.

There are three alternative ways to Omis:

• the Magistrale along the coast;
• by plane to Split Airport. We can pick you up and take you back there, if desired.
• by ferry boat from Rijeka to Split (which is a good choice anyway, because it cuts the total driving time in your car by 7 or 8 hours)

When you will have reached Split, go ahead in direction of Dubrovnik, and after a distance of about 20 km you will find the sign «Duce» on the right-hand side. Then you are very close to your destination. Please concentrate on the right side of the street and go ahead exactly 2,5 km: immediately at the bus stop of Duce-Glavica. Here you are – and unforgettable holidays can begin.
